Had 5 hours total on the engine. Changed oil with Valvoline VR1 20W50. Saved an oil sample to send for analysis to Lab One Aviation. I expect there will be high levels of some metals due to the new assembly, but this provides a baseline to monitor that those level drop with each oil change and that nothing new is developing over time. Bought 6 test kits at about $13 each with free shipping over $75.
6/2/14: Got the oil analysis back. Besides listing specific oil constituants/contaminants, the "Current Interpretation" was "no abnormal wear detected for new engine".
Still tweaking timing and mixtures. Flight #5 was a couple of touch and goes to evalute adjustments.
